特任教授、多摩美術大学客員教授。1990-01年キヤノン・アートラボキュレーター、2002-04年森美術館アソシエイト・キュレーターを経て現職。メディアの横断的研究および 20世紀～現在におけるアートの可能性を検討、かたわら数々の先見的な展覧会やプロジェクト、ライヴ等を国内外でキュレートする。代表的なキュレーションに、ミシャ・クバル「パワー・オブ・コード」（東京国立博物

館、1999）、「KOP（オンライン他、2001-05）、「アモーダル・サスペンション」（山口情報芸術センター、 2003）、「オープン・ネイチャー」（ICC、 2005）、「MobLab」（日本におけるドイツ、2005）、「コネクティング・ワールド」（ICC、2006）がある。アルス・エレクトロニカ賞審査員、UNESCOデジアート賞審査委員長他を歴任、現在ナムジュン・パイク賞審査員（ドイツ）、トランスメディアーレ(ベルリン)およびeARTSフェスティバル（上海）アドバイザーを務める。

Curator at NTT Inter Comunication Centre, Professor of Tokyo Zoukei University and Guest Professor Tama Art University.Before her present positions Shikata has been active as Mori Art Museum Assistant Curator (2002-04) and Canon Art Lab Curator (1990-01).

Shikata pursues a particular multi-disciplinary research into media, in which she considers the possibilities of contemporary art. The outputs and processes of this research include various exhibitions, projects and live events which take place in Japan and internationally.
