Brilliant City
D-Fuse + the musician Matthias Kispert produced the new D-Fuse movie Brilliant City during a stay in Shanghai with the British
Council Artist Link Program. The title refers to the location, a residential complex comprised of 25 highrises in the northern part
of Shanghai, China. It is entirely shot from the 34th floor of one of the buildings and stages a peeping tom view of the city below, capturing everyday activities that can be observed from this vantage point such as training soldiers, building activity, traffic, gardening. The camera hovers above the entire panorama and focuses on details in the
everyday life of this rapidly changing metropolis.

D-fuseとミュージシャンのMatthias Kispertは、British Artist Link Programで訪れた上海で、D-fuseの新しい映像作品「Brilliant City」を撮影した。このタイトルが指し示しているのは、中国・上海の北部に建設されている25の高層建築からなる団地である。その１つの高層住宅の

34階からこの作品は撮影された。記録されたのは、そこから見晴らす日常の世界・・・訓練する兵士達やビルの工事、行き交う車の流れ、庭園を整備する人・・・。カメラは下に広がる全景を捉えつつ、この大都市の姿を急速に変化さえている日常生活の細部へ焦点を当てる。
